What ostriches eat
Ostriches are mostly omnivores with a mostly plant-based diet, eating grasses, seeds, flowers, roots, and fruits, but also supplementing with insects, lizards, rodents and snakes, using swallowed stones(gastroliths) to grind tough food in their gizzard. They get moist water from plants but will drink from water sources, and their long, tough intestines help absorb maximum nutrients, allowing them to thrive in dry African savannas.
