The Lebanese in Brazil

Strangely Brazil is home to one of the largest Lebanese communities in the world in 2025.

In 2025,an estimated 7 to 10 million people of Lebanese descent live in Brazil. What makes this even more surprising is that this number is actually larger than the population of Lebanon itself, which has about 5.8 million people.

Lebanese immigration to Brazil began in the late 1800s,when many families left the Middle East in search of better opportunities.Over the years, they became an important part of Brazilian society, contributing to business, culture, politics and food.

Because of this history, Lebanese traditions can be seen across Brazil today-from popular Middle Eastern dishes to strong family and cultural ties passed down through generations.
