The rare snow lotus

 High in the Tianshan Mountains of Central Asia,the snow lotus(Saussurea involucrata)grows in harsh,cold conditions at high altitudes.It develops slowly over several years and is valued in traditional medicine.Due to overharvesting and climate change,this rare plant is now under threat.
