Vomit as a defense mechanism

 Turkey vultures use projectile vomiting as a defense mechanism.When threatened,they regurgitate partially digested food toward predators.The foul smell and surprise factor help deter attackers,and vomiting also makes the bird lighter so it can take off quickly.
