 Lithium-ion batteries can be found in laptops,e-bikes and smartphones.Unfortunately lithium-ion batteries from discarded laptops,smartphones and  e-bikes frequently cause fires in garbage trucks, recycling facilities and landfills because they can be crushed or damaged by compactors,leading to overheating,sparks and rapid ignition of surrounding trash,creating dangerous,hard-to-extinguish fires that threaten sanitation workers and communities.

              Lithium-ion fires burn extremely hot.

                     Hence lithium ion batteries should not be thrown in the trash but deposited in designated electronic recycling centres.
