Founder of The Mariposa Folk Festival just died

 The Mariposa Folk Festival is a popular annual musical event held in Orillia,Ontario, drawing many marquee performers and musicians.

          Ruth Jones McVeigh founded the Mariposa Folk Festival in 1961.Ruth Jones McVeigh was born on December 20,1926 in Halifax.She sadly died on January 7,2026 in Ottawa at the age of 99.Ruth Jones McVeigh was also a journalist,gardener,decorator ,author,wife and mother.She sure lived a full life.
