A valuable statue stolen from outside museum in small Quebec town

A bronze statue honoring car racing legend Gilles Villeneuve was shockingly stolen from outside The Gilles Villeneuve Museum in Berthierville,Quebec in October 2024.

The statue was sawed off at night and cut from its pedestal;people in the town fear that the thieves might try to melt down the statue for metal ,even though the price of metal is not high at this moment.

Gilles Villeneuve grew up in Berthierville,a town 70 kilometres northeast of Montreal.Jules LaSalle sculpted this famous statue. The statue cost $25,000 to build in 1984.

The theft of this statue is a big loss for the heritage of this town.I hope police step up their manhunt and manage to retrieve this sculpture in one piece.

How low can metal thieves go!A museum like this also needs a better surveillance system.

This statue is a must for the small town.
