Hosting the Olympic games

 Many cities are not eager any more to spend money on hosting the Olympic games,the Commonwealth Games and other major sporting events because of cost overruns and the fear of spending money on white elephants.

                         Since 9/11 security costs have soared.Sporting events are places where a lot of people congregate at once and they become targets for terrorist attacks.
