Singapore executes a 46 year-old man for attempted marijuana smuggling

Singapore has executed 46 year-old Tangaraju Suppiah in April 2023 after he was found guilty in 2018 of attempting to smuggle more than 1 kg(2.2 pounds) of cannabis. He was hanged despite last-minute appeals for clemency from his family and activiists.Richard Branson appealed for clemency in his case on his behalf too,but to no avail.

Singapore carried out 11 death sentences in 2021.

Hanging someone for trafficking in marijuana is draconian and inhumane.(Marijuana is totally legal and legally available for consumption in Canada since October  2018).Singapore must be pressured to scrap the death penalty and join the progressive world.
