The Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower was constructed for the 1889 World's Fair intended to stand in Paris only temporarily.The permit for the tower expired in 1909 and they planned to tear it down.Eventually,the city of Paris decided to not dismantle the tower but use it for communication purposes and meteorological observations.Today,the Eiffel Tower is a symbol of France and the most  visited paid monument in the world.

                   I am so glad they did not tear it down.Conservation pays!
