Fast fashion contributes to plastic pollution

Fast fashion is an invisible contributor to plastic pollution in the ocean.
Clothing that is cheap and durable but made of plastic such as acrylic or polyester, when washed, releases thousands of plastic microfibers.A single load of acrylic or polyester clothes when washed can release thousands of plastic fibres in the water. These plastic fibres end up in waste waters and then move on to lakes, rivers and seas. These plastic microfibres add to microplastic pollution in the ocean and accumulate in the food chain.
To help alleviate this problem,we should buy fewer clothes and wash synthetic clothes less often.
