Preservation of the Maori language in New Zealand

Without a proper command of the language, people don't have a deep understanding of their own culture.
Maori children used to be beaten and whipped  for speaking their native language in New Zealand;many Maoris lost their language through no fault of their own.
Generations of Maori New Zealanders were punished for speaking their language at school.Hence many Maoris made active choices not to teach their children their language.
Colonisation and racism marred the lives of Maoris.Colonisation had terrible consequences for language.
The Maoris suffered colonial genocide. Many Maoris survived with a colonial vision of  themselves.
However the Maori language shows a lot of resilience and in 2019 more and more Maori children are Learning to speak the language fluently. The language is coming back and in 2019 the Maori language is fairly secured.
