Helium shortage

Helium is one of the most versatile gases.
Helium is used in the manufacturing of
smartphones, fibreoptic cables and semi conductors.Scuba divers and welders also use helium.Helium is also used in computer hard drives.Helium is used as a coolant in MRI machines and particle accelerants.Nuclear fusion research also uses helium.
Birthday balloons bought from party stores use helium.
However, helium balloons are becoming much more expensive in 2018,which is perhaps a harbinger of a more serious problem.Helium costs are soaring and many industries are paying the price.
In March 2019 there is a helium shortage around the world. There are only 14 liquid helium plants around the world, clearly not enough to meet the demand.Helium costs are rising rapidly because of very few sources.
Normally helium is a byproduct of natural gas production. Some people are drilling for helium to counter the helium shortage.
