Seniors in Canada

In Canada in 2018,more than a million citizens over the age of 65 live alone.
But now many older people are banding together to combat loneliness.
A number of single seniors are buying joint houses together by pooling their money and sharing their houses in an arrangement known as ' co-housing'.
It comes down to the need for companionship. Some seniors are tired of wandering around big empty houses. So they decide to shake up their housing arrangement.
Co-housing helps seniors fight the feeling of isolation and loneliness.Co-housing offers economy, safety and companionship. Many people who are in co-housing say they eat better and live better.
Researchers say loneliness lowers cognitive function and increases the risk of premature death.
However, some seniors who live in co-housing arrangements regret purging a couple of belongings they wish they hadn't.
With the aging of the population,co-housing might be a growing trend.
