Poignant letter on hospital thefts from Montreal Gazette

Beware of thefts in hospital rooms

My mother passed away in hospital recently at the age of 94.
She had been there for nine weeks.
When my sister and I went to collect her things,we found that her clothes, purse and watch had been stolen after she died.
No one at the hospital seemed surprised.
Thefts of this kind,we were told by staff, are common.
My advice to anyone who requires a hospital stay is to keep all your belongings locked up,even if it means buying a small safe, and to take photos of all your items with witnesses present.-David Bernstein,Dollard-des-Ormeaux,Letter to Editor,MONTREAL GAZETTE,May 1,2017.
